Fun at the zoo

Grandma Doris took us to the zoo last Sat. We haven't been in a awhile and lots of the animals had babies over the summer. Yeah!

This is the cutest little baby there. Zuri the 250 pound baby elephant.

The baby giraffe was pretty cute too.

The tiger cubs were rolling around and playing.

Alex loves the lion fountains.

And a wolf that is always asleep when we go.

Just a little bit

Spencer is a watermelon junkie. He LOVES watermelon! He will go a pick little pieces of it off while it's in the fridge and then when you take it out to cut off a piece - half of it is gone. And you can't get away with just giving him one piece, it's piece after piece. Then when it's gone and ready to be thrown away you HAVE to make sure he's looking somewhere else or he just cries as he watches it going out to the garbage can. Does he like it? Just a little bit.

A little bit of fun

We dug up our carrots last week and we found a few that look like they were on steroids.

I pulled this one up and started laughing - a little pair of legs.
And then a cactus.

Shower cakes

My sister Sarah had her baby shower over the weekend. She found this picture of a baby butt cake and asked if I could do one for her shower. It turned out pretty cute!

I knew she was going to have way more people come than that one would feed so I did a bigger cake just for eating. As you can see Alex got to it. He confessed to the whole thing and even told us when he had done it - during scriptures.

Here it is all fixed and looking pretty.

Day Four

We went down to Salt Lake for a day and hung around Temple Square. We walked around the Temple and played in the water. We went up to the observation deck of the Church Office Building and got some nice pics of the State Capital Building and the valley. It was really hot so we were only out for so long before we had to go to the Spaghetti Factory.

They were putting up Christmas lights, but thankfully we didn't get the crane shot this year :)

So the boys decided they were going to sleep in a tent in the back yard. This was the closest thing to camping that I could get Ben to do. So we turned on the grill and roasted marshmallows. YUM! Then at the last minute Ben told me that he would take the boys and I could go sleep inside........ by myself............ peace.......... quiet........ so of course - I cleaned, balanced the check book, canned spaghetti sauce, did laundry and picked up toys.

So fun!

Day two and three

After we spent the night in Logan we headed up to Bear Lake. We love the lake but thought we might try hiking up to Bloomington Lake this time. Then we thought about it some more (driving 1/2 hour up a canyon, then hiking up into the lake packing all of our stuff, food and two boys and then not really able to swim because the water is super cold) and we decided to go to Bear lake again :) All the the pictures we took came out in black and white and really fuzzy so we just have one.

We headed over to Bloomington to check out the house John and Danny are building. It's coming along great and we can't wait for next year when we can use it!


We also went up to the Bloomington cemetery where Ben's Grandma and Grandpa are buried. It's a beautiful spot looking out on the valley.

We did go up the canyon a bit to see the cabin.

I love to see the lake as we turn into the valley and try to remember it as we leave, hoping it won't be too long before we can come back.

After the lake we went up to Park City. I forgot my camera at the hotel but we had a great time shopping and looking around. The boys thought the funnest part was sleeping somewhere other than their own beds. They had an awesome time running around and jumping on beds and eating all the snacks they could find.

Staycation - year two

We had so much fun last year doing stuff around Utah for our vacation that we decided to do it again this year. (That and Ben and I couldn't agree on any other place to go that fit into our budget.) So for day one we headed up to Logan. They have a little zoo up there that we never even knew existed. It's really small and used to be a bird sanctuary which is why most of it is birds but it was still really fun and the boys could run around and we weren't worried about them getting lost in the crowd. There were like a total of 15 people we saw there.

You walk around this corner and there is a huge grassy area where the boys ran and the peacocks tried to stay out of their way.

This is an albino porcupine. As soon as I pulled out my camera he hid his face so I couldn't get a good shot.

Right outside of the zoo is a park. Whenever Spencer saw an exit he headed for it because he could see the slides. Finally he got to play. I love that his little leg fat roll is holding up his shorts.

Last year we got our Christmas picture from our trip to Logan so we thought we'd try and get another good one of the boys. We took quite a few and here are a couple of them. Any guesses on which one might make it this year?

We headed over to the Tabernacle lawn for a few more pics. Ben and the boys were running around being silly to get some wiggles out.

So that is day one. We had a great time at the hotel playing the pool and eating fabulous pizza and Aggie ice cream. The boys were excited to get out and do something and mom and dad didn't say no to anything they wanted to do. We're suffering the consequences for that now but at the time it was GREAT!

Silly Spencer

So I put up a pic of Spencer a while ago of him sneaking a pear from the kitchen and hiding behind the couch to eat it. I finally got the video to upload. Notice the little smirk he gets on his face when he knows I'm not going to take it away.

Holy Tomato

Here's some tomatoes from one of our pickings. We've been getting this every 2 to 3 days for a couple of weeks. Soon this will all be yummy spaghetti sauce.
